The Tri-State Area Paranormal Phenomena Exploration & Research Society was founded August 2008, in Cincinnati, OH as an effort to join together like minded people from around the Tri-State area to investigate and understand Paranormal Activity and to help others who are experiencing the Paranormal.

Our Mission Statement

TRAPPERS promises to bring professionalism, respect, and confidentiality to each case we investigate. We understand that it is tough to bring this type of investigation into your home or business, and we respect your right to privacy.

We will bring recording devices to capture evidence of paranormal activity, but they are only used with the property owner's permission. We will not share or publish any of the media or any details of the case outside of the close-knit TRAPPERS group without your permission. More sensitive cases will be dealt with by the founders and be held under the most strict confidence.

We will bring a level headed and comfortable atmosphere into your home, in essence, taking care of the most important thing, your discomfort. We will then help you to understand some of the nature of the problem supplying you with the information to understand why this is happening and how little danger is actually involved. We will listen to your experiences and concerns. Then we will set up equipment and begin trying to recreate and debunk personal experiences in an attempt to find good evidence either for or against paranormal activity. We will then share our findings with you and come to a conclusion.

You are welcome to copies of any of the recorded media and our phones are open to you should you continue to need comfort or help.

We do this free of charge. We will not ask for or accept any money for this service whatsoever. All of our expenses will be covered by our own members or by voluntary anonymous donations through our website.

We use the Debunking Approach in our investigations

The debunking approach is a response to claims of paranormal phenomena, and consists of finding a "normal" explanation instead of a paranormal one to account for the claims. The basis for this approach is Occam's razor, which suggests that the simplest solution is the best one. Since standard scientific models generally predict what can be expected in the natural world, the debunking approach presumes that what appears to be paranormal is necessarily a misinterpretation of natural phenomena, rather than an actual anomalous phenomenon. In contrast to the skeptical position, which requires claims to be proven, the debunking approach actively seeks to disprove the claims.

Using this method, all evidence gathered is scrutinized with the goal of finding natural reasons or alternative causes for the creation of the evidence. If evidence can't be dubunked or recreated under controlled circumstances then it is considered evidence of paranormal activity.

We will not ever use a Ouija Board in any investigation. For one, their results can not be scientifically evaluated as their use requires direct human manipulation which is easily fabricated and is very difficult, if not impossible, to authenticate. Secondly, it is widely believed based upon dozens of personal experiences of investigators around the country that their use can open a very dangerous doorway for non-human entities to enter our dimension.

We do not consider Orbs to be viable evidence of paranomal activity. Even though the phenomena of orb shaped balls of energy does really exist, and this phenomena may in fact be tied to hauntings; the photography of orbs is very easily recreated under controlled conditions using dust and/or bugs. For this reason, photo and video evidence of orbs will never hold up under the scrutiny of science and must be discarded when properly investigating using the debunking approach.
